Rabat – Meta-owned platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp appeared to suffer a widespread service disruption late Tuesday, leaving users in several countries unable to access key features.

Reports began increasing at around 9:30 p.m. UTC on June 23, equivalent to approximately 10:30 p.m. in Morocco. Users complained that applications were failing to load, feeds were not refreshing, and error messages were appearing when they attempted to sign in.

Facebook users reported slow performance, inaccessible pages and login failures. Similar complaints emerged on Instagram, where some users were unable to refresh their feeds, load posts or access the application.

WhatsApp users also reported difficulties sending and receiving messages, accessing accounts and using audio or video features. Some complaints indicated that media files were not downloading properly.

Reports came from users in countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Pakistan, Romania, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Australia, suggesting that the disruption was not limited to one geographical region.

Independent outage-monitoring services detected an unusual increase in complaints affecting Meta’s platforms. Such platforms rely largely on reports submitted by users, meaning the available figures may not represent the full number of people affected.

Meta had not publicly acknowledged the latest disruption at the time of publication, and the company had not provided information about its cause or an expected recovery time.

It also remained unclear whether all Meta users were affected or whether the problems were limited to particular regions, devices or platform features. Some users continued to access the applications normally while others experienced repeated errors.

The latest problems come less than two weeks after a major outage on June 12 affected Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. During that incident, Facebook generated more than 113,000 outage reports at its peak, while Instagram received around 10,000. Meta later confirmed that it was working to restore its services, but did not immediately disclose the technical cause.
