Rabat – The Rabat-Sale-Kenitra Regional Academy for Education and Training has set a budget of MAD 156 million for the construction of 16 new schools in 2020.
The director of the Regional Academy Mohamed Aderdour presented the ministry’s 2020 Action Plan during a press conference on Thursday, January 2, in Rabat.
Aderdour said that the academy will build two primary schools, six local elementary schools, four middle schools, including one with boarding facilities, four high schools, including 3 with boarding facilities.
The construction of the establishments is part of Morocco’s reform of the education system to create equal opportunities in terms of access to education and training and make it compulsory for the age group from 4 to 15.
He added that 540,894 students will benefit from the Royal Initiative “one million schoolbags”, compared to 515,188 in 2019, pointing out that 28,105 students will also benefit from school transport compared to 26,754 last year.
The education ministry is also intending to increase the budget allocated to the Tayssir program to reach 309,012 students in 2020, compared to 286,933 in 2019, an increase of 7.69%.
Tayssir is a financial support program for the benefit of needy families to prevent school dropouts and to fight against factors that discourage students from attending school by distributing a monthly scholarship.
The ministry of education also intends to improve the educational atmosphere for children with disabilities by equipping 40 rooms with teaching and pedagogical tools, train 800 teachers, trainers, directors, and inspectors in addition to providing them with the necessary support through the adoption of individualized educational project in partnership with the Mohammed VI National Center for the Disabled.
