Rabat – The UN mission in Morocco will launch the “Reimagining the future for every child” campaign tomorrow, May 25, celebrating UNICEF’s 75th anniversary, according to a statement published today by UNICEF-Morocco.
The campaign builds on the symbolism of Morocco’s national children’s day celebrated every year on May 25 to conduct collective advocacy for every child to enjoy their rights.
Starting from May 25, a two-week digital public advocacy campaign around children’s rights priorities will be rolled out. It will be conducted with the participation of UN staff in Morocco, national partners, and open to the general public wishing to join, noted the statement.
Through the campaign, the UN aims at strengthening joint mobilization to defend children’s rights.
UN Resident Coordinator in Morocco, Sylvia Lopez-Ekra, said of the initiative: “While capitalizing on the many achievements of children’s rights in Morocco, it offers the opportunity to consider their future in light of the opportunities but also the emerging global challenges that no country is spared in terms of education, health, protection, or participation.”
Also supporting the campaign are Moroccan partners of the UN, including experts and academics.
Giovanna Barberis, the representative of UNICEF-Morocco, explained: “In Morocco, this operation carried by the entire United Nations system will be marked by the support and commitment of various national partners in order to give voice to children and promote a debate around their rights to reimagine the future for each of them.”
The second phase of the initiative will be a series of meetings and talks on a wide range of themes related to children’s rights. Some of the topics to be addressed are positive parenting, 21st-century skills for adolescents and youth, and social protection for children.
The campaign is expected to end on November 20, World Children’s Day.
