In its first friendly game, Morocco women’s national football team today crushed its Malian counterparts 3-0.
This evening, the Moroccan team dominated the first half and ended it 3-0 in its favor. Morocco’s ladies had the perfect start of the game as Tottenham Hotspur forward Rosella Ayane scored the first goal in the first minute of the match.
In the 34th minute, the referee awarded Mali a penalty but Moroccan goalkeeper Arouaissa Ines managed to successfully save the ball. Ten minutes later, Basel midfielder Imane Saoud scored Morocco’s second goal following a great team effort.
The Moroccan team extended its lead in the 2nd minute of the added time after Amani Salma, midfielder of French club Dijon FC, scored the third goal in the game.
The Malian national team came out stronger in the second half without translating its ball possession into goal-scoring opportunities.
The friendly match is part of Morocco’s preparations for a variety of upcoming sporting events, with particular focus on the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations which will be organized in Morocco.
The African tournament will take place either in July-August or October–November 2022.
Since his appointment as head coach of the Morocco women’s national team in November 2020, Reynald Pedros has succeeded to take women’s football in the North African country to the next level.
The French manager has extended experience as a coach of a women’s team. He has coached the Olympique Lyonnais women team from 2017 to 2019. He won with the French club the French league, the French cup, and was crowned as Champions of Europe twice.
