Rabat – As the Dubai 2020 World Expo quickly approaches, the General Commission for the Moroccan section has unveiled the North African country’s focus for the fair.
Originally scheduled to launch last year, the Dubai 2020 World Expo is the first recurrence that was delayed rather than canceled. Running between October 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022, the exhibition will feature 192 countries under the theme of “Connecting Minds and Creating the Future.”
The pavilion will be divided into three distinct districts, namely sustainability, mobility, and opportunity, with each pavilion showcasing different innovations, achievements, and initiatives of each country.
The Moroccan pavilion, located in the “opportunity” district and has been dubbed the Kingdom of inspiration. “Morocco is a country at the heart of African innovation blending rich heritage and visions of a future filled with opportunity,” announces a promotional video for Morocco’s section.
The Moroccan pavilion will have an interior surface area of 3,500 meters squared, offering visitors a chance to see stunning architecture, cultural events, exhibitions, and a plethora of Moroccan food and beverages. OUALALOU + CHOI are the designers of the Moroccan pavilion.

There will be 13 rooms spread across seven floors, which will combine scientific, cultural, and historical aspects of the Moroccan experience. There will also be a VIP area, a conference room, a separate room to host business meetings and connections, a restaurant and a street food area, a boutique, and a tea room.
For the six-month running time, the Moroccan Commission will be offering a cultural program throughout its space, with a variety of events taking place on the premises. The commission promises exhibitions, parades, animations, concerts, and performances, all with the aim to promote the rich Moroccan heritage.
The Moroccan organizers will also hold a variety of conferences and workshops dedicated to innovation and sustainability, emphasizing the country’s environmental initiatives, including recent reforms in agriculture and other civil sectors.
“By participating in the World Expo, Morocco inscribes its presence in an event that wants to be ‘the safest event in the world’ after a pandemic that has paralyzed the world for several months,” recently said Nadia Fettah Alaoui, the General Commissioner of the Moroccan pavilion.
“The objective is to tell the story of a Morocco proud of its origins that have forged its identity: in terms of heritage, values, ‘great men’, natural resources, privileged geographical position, etc.”
