Denver- A  long list of Moroccan airports were commended by the ACI for their efforts to provide safe and sanitary environments during COVID-19. ACI is an international NGO that represents airport interests around the globe. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ACI introduced an initiative known as the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery program to help facilitate the recovery of international air travel.

One facet of this program is the “Airport Health Accreditation Program” that ACI gives to enable airports to “demonstrate to passengers, staff, regulators, and governments that they are prioritizing health and safety,” according to the ACI official site.

Morocco has 15 airports that have received this commendation from ACI. These airports include the Casablanca-Mohammed V, Marrakech – Menara, Agadir – Al Massira, Rabat – Sale, Oujda – Angad, Fez – Sais, Tangier – Ibn Battuta, Ouarzazate, Nador – Laroui, Essaouira – Mogador, Al Hoceima – Sharif Idrissi, Errachidia – Moulay Ali Cherif, Tetouan – Sania Raml, Dakhla, and Laayoune’s Hassan I.

ACI developed its health standards in coordination with the standards of the  International Civil Aviation Organization in order to provide a comprehensive health certification program. The ACI also “works closely” with the WHO to ensure COVID-19 precautions are up to the latest standards.

Several factors were examined in each airport including social distancing measures, the cleaning and preparation of equipment, individual protection measures, and appropriate communication with travellers in the airport to facilitate the most efficient and sanitary trips.

The sanitary standards of Morocco’s airports is a reflection of the thorough health policies that have been implemented by government policies across all facets of Moroccan society. The maintenance of these standards in airports is one of the most remarkable issues that the Moroccan government has been able to tackle in the midst of the pandemic.

With the millions of travellers that pass through these facilities every year, airports represent the frontline in preventing COVID and any of its variants from being able to travel freely from different sources.

As the world works to recover and resume normal life, Morocco has demonstrated its intentions to continue upholding these prevention measures, and remain vigilant as the world works to recover and resume normal travel frequency.
