Royal Air Maroc: 120,000 MREs Booked Flights in Less Than 24 Hours

Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc announced today that it recorded 120,000 flight reservations in less than 24 hours due to the special prices the company adopted to facilitate Moroccan summer plans for Moroccans residing abroad (MREs).

CEO of Royal Air Maroc Abdellhamid Addou announced the news in a press conference that followed the company’s decision to announce affordable prices for Morocco’s diaspora.

The company introduced unprecedented prices following high instruction from King Mohammed VI, calling on all transportation companies to set affordable tickets to help diaspora return home for the summer holiday.

Haddou said that the company is receiving thousands of reservation questions, which are increasing hourly.

He noted in the press conference that passengers are unable to book flights on the Morocco-France line between August 15-31 due to the high influx of ticket sales..

The CEO also emphasized that the announcement of new prices was followed by a blockage of Royal Air Maroc website servers due to the irregular site traffic.

On Sunday, the company described the new list of prices as “historical,” emphasizing that it is in line with the high instruction from the monarch.

The list of prices shows that Royal Air Maroc offers a ticket flight to Morocco from Europe, excluding Russia and Turkey, for a price of Є97 per passenger for a family of four or more.

The price of round-trip flight tickets has also been set at Є120, for three-person families (per passenger). For individual travelers or those accompanied by another person, the price for a round trip has been set at Є150 per person.

As for flights operated from North America (New York, Washington and Montreal), the round trip price is Є500. The offer, which includes tax, is for any passenger traveling with two or more family members. The price for other passengers is set at Є600.
