Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Health on Saturday called on citizens to respect all preventive measures seeking to mitigate the COVID-19 crisis.

With the summer holiday approaching, the ministry issued a statement in which it emphasized the continued need to follow all the precautionary measures.

The statement called on citizens to ensure that they are correctly wearing their masks, cleaning their hands, and respecting physical distancing regulations.

It also mentioned that,  with the gradual lifting of the night curfew and the forthcoming resumption of international flights, avoiding unnecessary gatherings will remain particularly relevant and useful.

“Our collective respect for preventive measures and barriers represents civic behavior, highlighting the colossal efforts made and preserving the results and achievements made,” the ministry said.

The statement comes just a  few weeks after the government’s decision to ease lockdown measures.

Under the new measures, Morocco will allow international flights to resume, starting June 15.

Also part of the new regulations is the Moroccan government’s long professed policy of facilitating the Moroccan diaspora’s visit to their relatives and loved ones during summer vacation.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Morocco now stands at 523,890 in total, including 511,126 recoveries, and 9, 211 deaths.

Morocco has vaccinated 9,363,220 people with the first dose of the vaccine, while over 7, 094, 691 people have so far received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine .
