Rabat – King Mohammed VI has cabled a message of congratulations to US President Joe Biden in celebration of the US Independence Day.

In the message, the King expressed his warm congratulations and sincere wishes for “health, happiness, and peace of mind to President Biden and further progress and prosperity to the American people.”

The King also expressed his willingness to commemorate with President Biden on the “bicentenary of the Tangier legation,” Morocco offered to the US.

Morocco and the US celebrated the 200th anniversary of the founding of the American Legation in Tangier this year, with officials on both cites saying that the building is an embodiment of the longstanding, centuries-old, and improving friendship between the US and Morocco.

In his message to the US president, King Mohammed VI noted he was looking forward to the cooperation between Morocco and the US growing further by strengthening ties in all fields.

“Our centuries-old bilateral relations, based on mutual esteem and consideration, provide a strong incentive for us to move forward and constantly strengthen our ties through ambitious partnerships in all fields, the King said.

The monarch also recalled Rabat’s willingness to continue to work with the US administration to promote all values that constitute a “solid basis for the pursuit of our common action in the service of strengthening cooperation and the long-standing partnership that binds our countries.”

US officials have repeatedly praised the ties between the two countries, highlighting Morocco’s contributions to various fields, including counter-terrorism.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken has for instance expressed his satisfaction with the depth of the US-Morocco friendship, describing the alliance as a “long-standing and beneficial bilateral relationship.”

In a statement in April, Blinken argued that the Morocco-US bonds are founded on “shared values and interests in regional peace, security, and prosperity.”

He echoed the same statement during his latest meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita. The two officials met in June at the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS summit in Rome.

Discussing bilateral and multilateral cooperation during that Rome meeting, Bourita and Blinken vowed to further their countries’ improving partnership and expand it to a wide range of areas of shared interests
