Rabat – Morocco and the Netherlands seek to boost bilateral and political dialogue through a Joint Action Plan.
The Ambassador, Director General at Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Yazourh, and his Dutch counterpart Thijs Van Der Plas signed the joint declaration on Thursday.
The statement comes as part of the country’s determination to strengthen political dialogue to cover all areas related to bilateral ties.
The initiative also seeks to “confirm respect for the sovereignty and institutions of each [country] and underline the rules of partnership on the basis of respect for the mutual interests of the two countries,” the document said.
Under the agreement, the two parties have decided to hold a permanent dialogue to facilitate regular sharing of information before NGO funding, while respecting the legal frameworks of both countries.
“The fundamental objective is to consolidate bilateral relations on a sound and solid basis, but also to give them an impetus to match their ambitions and the great potential they contain, both bilaterally and within the framework Morocco-Netherlands-EU cooperation, or triangular cooperation towards Africa,” the document said.
The two countries expressed their mutual desire and commitment to continue to develop cooperation in all fields.
The Netherlands and Morocco also agreed to maintain their coordination for the strengthening of the Strategic Partnership between Morocco and the European Union, particularly within the framework of the implementation of the EU-Morocco joint declaration that dates back to June 2019.
The Netherlands and Morocco also agreed to establish an innovative mechanism of strategic discussions regarding trade to encourage investment in the two countries.
The Netherlands and Morocco share a good trade partnership. The Netherlands exports a variety of products to Morocco.
Moroccan fruit and vegetable exports to the Netherlands amounted to €209 million in 2020.
Morocco also exported fish, crustaceans, and molluscs worth €150 million.
Clothing and accessories exports from Morocco to the Netherlands amounted to €73 million in 2020.
