Rabat – Morocco received 600,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine today, August 13.
Moulay Said Afif, a member of the Scientific and Technical Committee for Vaccination announced the news, affirming that Morocco will continue to receive supplies of the vaccines in order to successfully complete the national vaccination process.
This is the first Pfizer vaccine shipment to arrive in Morocco.
The arrival of the batch came after the North African country concluded an agreement with Pfizer Inc and Pfizer Laboratories SA Morocco.
Afif announced on the 2M television channel that Morocco will receive an additional 1 million doses of China’s Sinopharm vaccine today.
Reports suggested that Morocco would utilize Pfizer to vaccinate the children between 12 to 15 years.
Morocco is reportedly preparing to launch a vaccination campaign to include the 12-15 age groups on August 18.
Morocco will also launch a vaccination campaign among 15-20 age groups on August 16.
It remains to be seen whether the Moroccan government will confirm the news in an official announcement.
Morocco currently uses Sinopharm, Janssen, and the AstraZeneca vaccines.
The arrival of the Pfizer shipment presents an opportunity for the country to enhance its vaccination campaign, which targets 33 million of the country’s population, or 80%.
