Rabat – The Government Council meeting this Monday, August 23, saw the government’s appointment of Amane Fathallah as Director General of Ports and Merchant Marine, at the Ministry of Equipment Transport and Logistics and Water.
This appointment is part of a reorganization of the Ministry where Amane Fathallah previously held a director position since 2016.
She has an extensive background in the training and in the naval fields, acquired from France where she worked before permanently returning to Morocco in 2013.
After studying marine geology and obtaining a PhD in coastal management at the University of Western Brittany, Amane Fathallah began her professional career as a teacher.
She then held several positions of responsibility in the fields of maritime training and naval engineering within a branch of the French Navy.
These positions involved dealing with international contracts and led her to master human capital management and HR processes.
Back in Morocco, she joined a French multinational as an HR Director, then joined the International University of Rabat.
She strongly played a role in the establishment and promotion of the university’s continuing education program.
In 2013, Amane Fathallah was appointed to head the Higher Institute of Maritime Studies (ISEM), which she directed until July 2016.
As head of the Directorate of Merchant Marine in July 2016, she was responsible for various projects, among them the reorganization of the administration, updating and dematerializing its procedures and delegating their implementation to regional departments.
She also opened an extensive project to update maritime legislation, which was based largely on the maritime code of 1919, now almost a century old.
