Rabat – Morocco’s second “smart” vaccination center opened its doors in Sale on Tuesday, August 24.
Morocco’s Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb inaugurated the “vaccinodrome” in Sale’s Bab Lamrissa district on August 24. The Sale vaccination center follows Morocco’s first such center opened in the Errahma district of the province of Nouaceur in early August.
The new vaccination center spreads across a 2,200 meter squared area, and with the help of several innovative technologies, it will be able to vaccinate between 3,000 and 4,000 people a day. The aim is to speed up Morocco’s national vaccination campaign, the Ministry of Health said.
The smart center uses a fully integrated QR code system, which helps the health professionals to keep track of patients within the vaccination circuit. The innovative technology will assist the professionals every step of the way, from screening the patients before the process begins, to helping organize the logistics of the individual’s vaccination.
Any data that the system collects will be used to further analyze the figures to give a clear indication of the number of people who have been vaccinated once, twice, who have been screened, and other relevant information.
The vaccinodrome is split up in several different units and is equipped with a waiting room, a COVID-19 screening unit, an examination room as well as counseling, medical, and vaccination posts, according to Moroccan state media.
Similar to its predecessor, the center was developed in a way to maintain a totally controlled environment. Using intelligent sensors, the center can control the vaccine cold chain, and ensure the supervision, management, and analysis of the vaccination process.
As of August 24, Moroccan health professionals have administered 17,693,422 doses of the first vaccine, and additional 13,554,867 doses of the second vaccine. The country’s national vaccination campaign was also recently extended to include kids aged 12 or older, ensuring a smooth continuation of the vaccination process.
