Denver – Moroccan actor and musical artist Saad Lamjarred has filed a complaint against pan-African news magazine Jeune Afrique, according to sources close to the singer.
Lamjarred was reportedly bothered by the magazine’s latest feature of him, which he stated contains “very serious accusations” about his past. The latest Jeune Afrique issue reportedly contains a “series” of articles on Lamjarred’s alleged crimes, documenting his legal controversies across several years.
Jeune Afrique’s articles deal with the different controversial stories the Moroccan signer has been associated with in recent years, from his first rape accusations from the US in 2010 to his case in 2016 that is currently scheduled for trial in France on charges of aggravated rape.
Lamjarred’s close associates claim that he “has never been contacted by the magazine,” and they asserted his right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Lamjarred has continued to spark controversy in Morocco due to the numerous sexual assault allegations that he has had to navigate.
The Jeune Afrique article on Lamjarred also allegedly shares private conversations with Lamjarred after his alleged assaults. In one text sent after a 2016 sexual offense case, the actor-singer allegedly admits his error to a colleague, stating that he had “f*cked up.” Jeune Afrique also includes the testimony of several journalists who attested to seeing the celebrity “being extremely violent towards women.”
According to many familiar with the Moroccan star, Lamjarred has also had to deal with rampant drug abuse, particularly cocaine. One radio host stated Lamjarred “needed to be treated” for his issues, and criticized his close colleagues for keeping the star in denial.
Lamjarred is currently scheduled to go to trial in France for an aggravated rape charge in 2022. If found guilty, he would face up to twenty years in prison. Sources close to the singer report his family has contacted Morocco’s royal family for emergency assistance in the matter.
