Rabat – The latest COVID-19 report in Morocco appears to indicate a decrease in active cases throughout the country.
Health Ministry officials reported a total of 12,644 current active cases throughout the country as of this Thursday, with 1,098 having been reported today.
COVID-19 deaths in the country also dropped significantly, with 19 deaths declared in the last 24 hours.
This has brought the total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 14,267.
Out of 876 COVID-19 cases that are regarded as critical, there are 444 patients currently being treated with artificial respiration.
The fatality rate within the country continues to hover around 1.5% of the infected population. However, recovery rates have climbed to 97.1%.
The Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region remains the most infected city in the country, with 400 new cases reported in the area.
The Casablanca-Settat region follows in second with 391 new cases and no COVID-19 related deaths, while Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima follows in third with 76 new cases.
The decrease in active cases coincides with the upcoming shipment of vaccines from Sinopharm and Pfizer, in addition to the expanded vaccine availability.
Morocco’s national vaccination campaign has been successful, especially considering that most kids aged 12 and older have received their first vaccination, while some have been fully vaccinated.
The Moroccan government has confirmed that the new school year will start as scheduled on October 1, and has additionally mentioned plans to relax the restrictive measures, following the positive developments in the national epidemiology in the country.
