Morocco To Construct Station Transforming Natural Gas into Liquefied Gas

The Moroccan Ministry of Energy Transition has announced the extension of the duration of the bid, concerning the construction of a station to transform natural gas into liquefied gas off the coast of Morocco.

Rabat – The Moroccan Ministry of Energy Transition has announced the extension of the duration of the bid, concerning the construction of a station to transform natural gas into liquefied gas off the coast of Morocco.

The Ministry of Energy launched the  bid for the construction and operation of a floating, storage and regasification unit for liquefied natural gas (FSRU) in March.

“The importance of this project and the conditions of the national and regional market have aroused the interest of a large number of national and international companies,” the ministry said in its press release today, October 15.

The statement added that it is motivated by enthusiasm from operators and new opportunities in “an accelerated scheme”  to ensure more visibility for the next phases of the project for its implementation.

Therefore, the ministry decided to extend the consultation period by 10  days, starting October 15.

Throughout the extension, operators interested in the bid will be able to respond to the request for additional information to the offers submitted on June 15, 2021, taking into account an additional site, in the north of Morocco.

“The companies having expressed their interest are contacted by the administration, in full transparency, in order to refine the offers and present a supply model allowing security of supply for Morocco,” the press release added.

During this extension, bidders will be able to respond to the request for additional information on the offers submitted on June 15, 2021, taking into account the addition of an additional site, in the north of the Kingdom, while detailing the structuring of the financing envisaged as well.  that the conditions of the gas supply contract, it is specified.
