Rabat – The Morocco pavilion at the global exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai was officially opened in the evening of October 30 in the presence of a large ministerial delegation. The pavilion is expected to remain open until March 31, 2022.

The Moroccan delegation consisted of the General Commissioner of the Moroccan Pavilion, the Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah Alaoui, the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, and the Minister of Industry and Commerce Ryad Mezzour.

Also composing the delegation were directors of public institutions, policy makers, and business leaders.

The representatives visited the 13 rooms of the pavilion that aims to promote the country’s strategic vision for a more sustainable future while highlighting the civilizing legacy of a thousand-year-old nation.

During the opening ceremony, Nadia Fettah Alaoui stressed that Morocco’s presence in Expo 2020 Dubai reflects its solid bilateral relations with the UAE.

She said cooperation between the two countries is multidimensional and based on fraternity, understanding, mutual respect, especially in the political, economic, scientific and cultural fields.

The minister noted that UAE’s decision to open a consulate general in the southern Moroccan city of Laayoune illustrates the deep and strategic relations between the two countries.

For his part, Ryad Mezzour said that the Morocco Pavilion highlights Morocco’s successes in several areas, and reflects the country’s openness to world civilizations.

“The Pavilion promotes a new Morocco that stands out for its innovations, attractiveness and cultural influence,” he explained.

In recent years, many foreign investors have been attracted by Morocco’s commitment to lead sustainable growth in Africa and to transition to a green economy.

Imad Barrakad, Director General of the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering, underlined that Morocco’s presence in the global exhibition aims to reaffirm its permanent commitment and mobilization to face the major global challenges with a “realistic vision and unwavering determination.”

Morocco’s pavilion is located near the United Arab Emirates (UAE) pavilion and not far from Al Wasl Plaza, the central monument of Expo 2020 Dubai.

Themed “Connecting Minds, Building the Future,” Expo 2020 Dubai, which was postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, covers an area of 4.38 km.

The World Expo seeks to serve as an incubator to stimulate the exchange of new visions among nations while also fostering the development of practical solutions to real-world problems.
