Denver – The International Art Cinema Festival is returning to Agadir next month, bringing together artists from around the region.
The 2021 festival will be hosted in a hybrid setting, mixing in-person events with online sessions. The festival is scheduled to last from November 20 to 22 in the coastal city.
According to the festival’s official Facebook, the Agadir Art Cinema Festival “encompasses all the arts, from all eras and all styles.”
Notable guests scheduled to attend the event include Karim Boulmal of Morocco, Maky Madiba Sylla of Senegal, Atta Ibrahim Constantine of Lebanon, and Jamal Chairi of Spain.
The guests range from actors, writers, directors, and cinematographers, all with an interest in art cinema.
Morocco is a renowned location in the film world, both as a location for several blockbuster films, but also as a host to several famous international film festivals.
Festivals have been hosted in Tangier, Rabat, and Marrakech to celebrate cinema in Morocco, and promote Moroccan contributions to the film world. Moroccan cinema has grown in popularity and prominence in recent years, with Moroccan-directed films gaining recognition at international film awards including the 2022 Oscars.
