Rabat – Moroccan-Spanish model Sarah Loinaz was crowned Miss Universe Spain 2021 at the Los Olivos Beach Resort in Costa Adeje, Tenerife, Canary Islands, on October 16.

Madrid representative, Teresa Calleja Palazuelo, and Malaga contestant, Carmen Serrano, have been selected as first and second Runner-Up, respectively.

The semifinalists Juliette Slama, Yanira Morales, and Gema Torres made up the Top 6to become the 13 finalists of the 2021 Miss Universe Spain.

The gala was hosted by Sofia del Prado, the former crowned Miss Universe Spain in 2017, and finalist of Miss Universe 2017.

Loinaz will represent Spain in the pageant and will compete in Miss Universe 2021, which will be held in Eilat, Israel, on December 12, 2021.

Born to a Spanish father and Moroccan mother, the 23-year-old model represented Basque during the Miss World Spain in 2015 where she also competed against 24 other candidates. She won the Top Model award and finished in top 10.

In November 2016, Loinaz ranked fifth among 22 candidates from Spanish-speaking countries at Reina Hispanoamericana, an annual beauty pageant that celebrates Hispanic heritage, language, and culture.

A year later, she represented Spain at the Miss Universe Spain 2017 competition where she placed second behind model Sofia del Prado.

The Moroccan-Spanish model made her runway debut for a fashion show for VIDDA in April 2019 in Las Palmas, Spain.

Sarah Loinaz posted a message on her Instagram expressing gratitude to her fans and the jury, and said:  “Thank you for always believing in me, for your infinite energy and support. You have become a big family. Thanks to the organizers and the jury for having trust in me, and giving me the opportunity to be Miss Universe Spain.”

She also added a special note for her mother and family, “Without my mother, none of this would have been possible. You are the person who inspired me.”

“Thank you for educating me in the values of humility, work and the spirit of self-improvement. To my family and friends, thank you. I feel very fortunate to have you in my life,” she said.
