Rabat – Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid met with his Libyan counterpart Fathallah Abdel-Latif Al-Zini this Friday, October 22 in Rabat.
Al-Zini’s visit marks the first official audience of Mehdi Bensaid with a foreign personality since his appointment as head of the ministry.
Both officials met to discuss the strengthening of cooperation in promoting the conditions of youth in their respective countries.
During their meeting, both parties highlighted the special relationship linking Morocco and Libya, emphasizing their various fields of cooperation, which stood the test of time and political vicissitudes.
In a statement to the press, the ministers elaborated on their plans, which they hope to be able to expand to the entire Maghreb region.
Bensaid said there will be “a practical program established to give substance to the agreements reached between the two parties.”
He announced that Libyan authorities have decided to extend social benefits to young Moroccans residing in Libya.
The newly appointed minister added that he aims to develop “joint programs to overcome common problems faced by the youth of the Maghreb, while providing effective solutions.”
For his part, Al-Zini said that these talks have “identified a common vision regarding the challenges and issues related to improving the conditions of youth in both countries but also in the Maghreb, a region whose age pyramid shows a strong presence of youth.”
The Libyan official stressed that his trip to Rabat is part of the High Joint Moroccan-Libyan Commission’s efforts concerning its joint bilateral program for youth.
Al-Zini proposed that the two countries resort to loans to facilitate the entrepreneurial journey of young Libyans and Moroccans.
Finally, the Libyan official thanked Morocco, its King, the government, and the Moroccan people, for their support to Libya, in order to recover peace and stability.
Both countries have a large young population, and are planning to invest massively and cooperate closely to create a better present and future for their youth.
