Rabat – Morocco’s health ministry reported 499 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours.
The decline in daily cases is accompanied by an increase in daily recoveries, as health authorities recorded 476 new recoveries today. The national recovery rate remains encouraging at 97,8%.
The total sum of recoveries in Morocco stands at 922 456 today, while current active COVID cases in the country are reported to be 5,757.
The national death toll is at 14,566, with the ministry reporting 5 COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, and the mortality rate remains stable at 1.5%.
The Casablanca Settat region recorded most of the new cases today, with 246 new infections and 3 deaths.
Second was Rabat Kenitra Sale, reporting 149 new infections and no deaths in the last 24 hours.
Morocco’s national vaccination campaign is also progressing at an encouraging pace, with over 21,088,437 fully vaccinated individuals, and 23,306,937 people having received their first dose.
With the launch of the administration of the third vaccine shot in the country, the ministry reports 784,478 administered booster shots as of this evening.
Moroccan authorities announced the introduction of a compulsory vaccine pass for travel and access to public spaces starting this Thursday, October 21.
This decision aims to encourage the population to get vaccinated following the stagnation of vaccination figures observed in the last couple of weeks.
Morocco’s goal is to reach an 80% national vaccination rate by the end of 2021.
