Denver – The city of Marrakech has been the site of a legendary week-long mega party with the marriage of the daughter of Moroccan businessman Yariv El-Baz.
El-Baz, who is a large stakeholder in Morocco’s food industry and the son of a famous Moroccan jeweler, is mostly known on the international scene for being a main agent behind last year’s Morocco-Israeli normalization agreement.
Over the past week, El-Baz has celebrated the marriage of his daughter with a massive party in Marrakech. According to local reports, El-Baz reserved at least three hotels in the city for the wedding’s many foreign guests. News reports estimate nearly 500 guests hailing from France, the US, Israel arrived in the city to attend the wedding.
A video released by a wedding guest showed partygoers enjoying Marrakech’s nightlife as traditional music played and hundreds of candles were placed around the venue.
According to reports, in attendance at the celebration were two members of the Israeli parliament. MPs Aryeh Deri and Ben Barak attended the wedding at the personal invitation of El-Baz.
The massive wedding has been a massive boost for the tourism industry in Marrakech. The Red City has traditionally been a renowned landmark for the party scene in Morocco and North Africa.
With the negative effects of COVID-19 on tourism in Morocco during the past year, the wedding of El Baz’s daughter was likely a much-needed resurgence for the heavily dependent tourism sector in Marrakech and the many who depend on foreign guests for their livelihoods.
