Rabat – The Moroccan telecommunication operator Inwi has unveiled the “connected classrooms” action to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its “Dir Iddik” initiative.
“Dir Iddik” serves as a bridge between charities and volunteers through collaborations with Moroccan associations of different sizes to help communities in need.
Inwi announced in a press release on October 5 that the “connected classrooms” action will mobilize several volunteers and partner associations in rural regions across Morocco to set up multimedia rooms for approximately 5,000 students and 100 teachers from vulnerable rural communities.
More than 500 volunteers will take part in the initiative and will actively participate in equipping the multimedia rooms, improving the classes’ layout, and taking part in different training and workshops with students.
The project aims to extend digital technology across Morocco through providing rural schools with technical equipment to ensure better connectivity, explains Inwi.
The chosen schools are located in specific areas designed by the National Broadband Plan (PNHD) that aims to provide internet access to more than 10,000 remote, deprived areas in Morocco.
The “connected classrooms” action is a concrete example of the useful and beneficial use of digital technology that will support Moroccan students and help them improve their schooling conditions, said the statement.
With a community of more than 67,000 volunteers and participants, it added, Inwi remains faithful to its commitment to social action and its goal of making digital technology a lever for strengthening Morocco’s school system.
