Rabat – Morocco’s 2022 finance bill will allocate over MAD 3 billion ($331 million) to support employment and entrepreneurship initiatives.
In a recent meeting between the Minister of Economic Inclusion Younes Sekkouri, and the Wali of the Souss-Massa region, governor of the Prefecture of Agadir-Ida, Outanane Ahmed Hajji, the Minister underlined that the government has allocated significant resources aimed at the employment of youth, and the promotion of the creation of enterprises.
The Minister explained that the purpose of his visit to the Souss-Massa region is to enhance regional and local initiatives, particularly in entrepreneurship and employment.
“These initiatives encouraging employment and entrepreneurship will be implemented in coordination with the various stakeholders,” he noted.
Sekkouri also highlighted the various job opportunities available across various sectors in the region.
He emphasized that priority will be given to people affected by the COVID-19 crisis, especially the youth.
Last month, Morocco’s head of government Aziz Akhannouch revealed the 2022 finance bill.
Officials predicted that the new bill will result in the creation of 250,000 direct job opportunities within two years.
Last year, Morocco signed several agreements regarding the “integrated program to support and finance enterprises.”
The integrated program covers different initiatives such as the financing of entrepreneurship, the coordination of support actions for entrepreneurs, and the financial inclusion of rural populations.
In spite of constant efforts to reduce the unemployment rate among young Moroccans, studies revealed an increase of 0.5% in the unemployment rate in 2021, rising from 12.3% to 12.8% at the national level.
HCP’s report further noted that graduates of higher education experienced a 25.3% increase in unemployment, while graduates of medium education experienced a 17.6% increase.
In 2021, unemployed Moroccans will total 1,605,000, compared to 1,477,000 last year.
