Rabat – Morocco’s first digital platform for accessing judicial rulings launched yesterday in Dakhla, under the name of Qada’okom, or “Your Judiciary” in English, as part of the celebrations of the 46th anniversary of the Green March.
Omar Azougar, a lawyer in Casablanca who oversees the project, said that the website is a significant step in the transformation and evolution of the Moroccan judiciary, and will let researchers and scholars in the legal fields access the information they need more conveniently.
“This site is the fruit of a constructive collaboration between a team of researchers and professionals, and the Professional Center for the Practice of Law, to make judicial information accessible in a digital database,” the site says.
Qada’okom contains 250,000 decisions from various courts, with the number being projected to reach 1 million by 2023.
An inaugural party was held in Dakhla, where Azougar said that the site will encourage investments, stating that foreign investors care a lot about the judicial and legal security of the country.
Being launched nearly a year after a Moroccan contingent lifted a Polisario blockade in Guerguerat on November 13, the platform was dedicated to Morocco’s armed forces.
Khattat Ynja, the President of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, praised the project, saying that it will be a valuable tool for storing judicial happenings and will elevate Dakhla’s position not only in Morocco but for foreign interests as well.
Along with the digital platform, the team also released the Judicial Encyclopedia of Morocco’s Real Estate Conservation law.
The project, which comes in the midst of Morocco’s digital transformation in Morocco, is an integral part of the country’s professed determination to digitize its public administration.
The digitization process has been gaining steam and is expected to go faster with the appointment of a dedicated Minister of Digital Transition in Morocco’s newest government.
