Rabat – King Mohammed VI appointed Ghita Mezzour on October 7 as Morocco’s new Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform.

Mezzour is deputy director of the ICT Technology Lab (TICLab) and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Logistics at the International University of Rabat (UIR).

She is the CEO & Founder at Data in Seconds (DASEC), a startup that uses AI and alternative data to produce strategic real-time information to support top international organizations, government agencies, and the private sector.

Mezzour also leads a research project that focuses on the gap between university education and the needs of the labor market in Morocco.

Mezzour holds a PhD in “Computation, Organizations and Society” from Carnegie Mellon University in the US, and a Master and B.A in “Communication Systems” from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne.

She was named “Star Rising” by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in November 2015.

She is also a researcher in Big Data, artificial intelligence, and cyber security, having previously led projects funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) around youth employability and cyber threat intelligence.

Mezzour also served as a program chair of the 16th International Conference on Hybrid Intelligent Systems and is an associate editor of Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.
