Rabat – Morocco’s ambassador to Poland Abderrahim Atmoun has met with members of the parliamentary friendship group in the lower house (the Sejm) of the Polish parliament to explore ways of strengthening Morocco-Poland political dialogue.
During the meeting, the representatives highlighted Morocco-Poland parliamentary relations and stressed the need to boost their political dialogue, which includes cooperation between the two parliaments.
Members of the Morocco-Poland parliamentary friendship group expressed their willingness to meet their Moroccan counterparts, spotlighting Morocco’s effective management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Polish deputies also hailed Morocco’s role in ensuring peace and stability in the region, describing the country as a real vector of growth and development on the African continent.
The meeting was also an opportunity to highlight the kingdom’s position as a regional leader and continental hub for investments.
In terms of Morocco’s efforts on the regional stability front, the meeting also underlined the country’s full commitment to and support for the inter-Libyan political process to end Libya’s decade-long conflict.
It also noted Rabat’s pivotal role in the regional and global fight against terrorim, as well as its contributions to efforts to tackle irregular migration and combat transnational criminal networks.
The Polish officials also expressed their support for the Morocco-EU partnership and pledged to work towards deepening ties between Brussels and Rabat.
On bilateral cooperation, the Morocco-Poland friendship group welcomed the economic partnerships between the two countries, expressing readiness to further strengthen trade cooperation.
According to the UN Comtrade’s 2020 database, Moroccan exports to the Central European country reached $290.5 million in value, while imports exceeded $446 million.
In 2020, a Moroccan parliamentary delegation created the Polish-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Group after a meeting with Polish representatives.
Since its creation, the Parliamentary Friendship Group has constantly spoken of the necessity of exchanging visits between Moroccan and Polish institutions to identify new fields of cooperation and issues of common interests.
