Rabat – Morocco’s Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) has announced the official launch of its first virtual assistant named “CHATBOX.”

In a press release, the directorate reported that the new virtual assistant resulted from efforts to diversify communication channels, facilitate user interactions, and implement law 55-19 on the simplification of administrative procedures.

Users can interact with “CHATBOX” in Arabic and French at any moment of the day or night. It can answer the most frequently asked questions on online tax services at its “SIMPL” digital platform.

The virtual assistant provides support to existing assistance systems (call centers, e-claims, and online appointment platforms). However, DGI  plans to gradually expand the scope of services provided by “CHATBOX.”

The new assistant is currently available on the DGI portal and “Daribati” application.

The launch of “CHATBOX” aligns with Morocco’s strategy to digitalize the country’s public administration.

The Ministry of digital transition and administrative reform has launched national projects to modernize and digitalize administrative services including the development of a master plan for the digital transformation of public administration. It further launched work on the  “Gateway Gouvernementale” platform, and a complaints management system, as well as the implementation of the Human Resources Management Information System for Public Administrations (SIRH‐AP).

Through these projects, the ministry seeks to connect public administrations with citizens, for an efficient flow of information and grant citizens and residents digital access to government services.

To ensure equal access to the e-government services, the ministry has launched its 2018-2023 national strategy to connect 10,147 rural areas. 7,450 out of these targeted zones have already benefited from the plan, minister Ghita Mezzour reported on January 3.
