Rabat – Morocco and Qatar signed on February 7 six agreements and memorandum of understanding (MoU) during the eighth session of the Moroccan-Qatari High Joint Cooperation Commission in Doha.
The agreements were signed in a meeting chaired by Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch and the Qatari Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The MoU aims to boost cooperation in the fields of habous (real estate endowment for Islamic religious purposes or charity) and islamic affairs, tourism and commercial activities between the two countries, as well as financial control between the State Audit Bureau of Qatar and Morocco’s Court of Auditors.
The agreement on the third executive program in youth cooperation for the 2023-2024 period was signed by Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and Qatari Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanem al Ali.
The third executive program aims to continue joint action and strengthen bilateral sectoral cooperation concerning youth while increasing the opportunities for scholarships for Moroccan-Qatari youth.

Meanwhile, the fifth executive program of the cultural and artistic cooperation agreement, to be implemented in the 2022-2025 period, was signed between Bensaid and Qatari Minister of Culture Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The agreement of the fifth executive program includes boosting cooperation in the fields of translation and digitization, book fairs, music and film, protection of cultural heritage and humanitarian heritage with a focus on strengthening cooperation between Moroccan-Qatari cultural institutions.
The representatives also signed an agreement regarding the second executive program for cooperation in sports, which is set to come into force during the 2022-2023 season.
During the eighth session, the delegations of the two countries spoke of the need to further strengthen the pivotal Morocco-Qatar diplomatic ties, in line with King Mohammed VI and Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani’s vision to meet the expectations of citizens from both countries.
Qatari and Moroccan officials recalled that bilateral trade exchange witnessed a significant increase in 2021, amounting to $207 million (MAD 1.9 billion) compared to $90 million (MAD 837 million).
Morocco’s minitrial delegation in the gulf country includes Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita, Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fatiha Alaoui, Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Minister, Leila Benali, Economic Inclusion, and Small Businesses Minister, Youness Sekkouri, and Youth, Culture, and Communication Minister, Mehdi Bensaid.
