Morocco’s Minister of Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, announced on February 10 that stadiums will reopen soon to once again welcome football fans.
Benmoussa made the statement at a press conference on the sidelines of the Council of Government meeting.
The minister affirmed that concerned parties are coordinating “to find a final solution” and announce “good news soon.”
He echoed what is becoming a standard health requirement in all sectors in Morocco, saying that “reopening stadiums depends on obtaining the booster dose of vaccine against Covid-19.”
Benmoussa urged citizens to “get involved in the vaccination campaign in order to resume normal life as soon as possible.”
Stadiums have been closed due to the pandemic, while the president of Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, announced in September that supporters will gradually be able to return to stadiums.
As Morocco is allocating significant efforts to return to normal life, the government has called on citizens to take the booster shot to pave the way for a revival in all sectors.

Given the evolution of Morocco’s epidemiological situation and the reopening of borders, the government has urged professionals in all vital sectors, and citizens and residents in general, to get the booster shot.
Only widespread vaccination of the people, according to Morocco’s Prime Minister, will allow the country to return to a regular economic rhythm unhindered by public health limitations.
Morocco’s air border reopened on February 7 after nearly three months of closure. The travel ban wreaked havoc on the North African country’s economy, particularly in the tourism sector, which took the brunt of the blow.
Moroccans are hoping for a positive relaunch that will revitalize the country’s economic sectors.
