Rabat – French investment bank Bpifrance is organizing a prospecting mission from February 21-25 in Casablanca for 16 French businesses to network and diversify their customer base in Morocco.
In cooperation with the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) and France’s Trade and Industry Chamber in Morocco, Bpifrance will support the 16 businesses to understand Morocco’s business climate and conduct market studies, paving the way for short-term expansion plans.
Dubbed “Explore & Match Industrie 4.0 and Energetic Transition Morocco,” the prospecting mission will offer market insights for French businesses operating in the renewable energy sector, according to a Bpifrance press release.
The program is part of the bank’s strategy to strengthen its foothold in Africa and diversify activities on the continent.
Of the French group’s reasons for betting on Morocco for its African ambitions, the press statement noted that the North African country is Africa’s “trading, logistic, and financial hub.”
A strategic location with access to both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean makes Morocco a gateway to Africa, it explained.
Morocco’s stable “BBB” sovereign rating, coupled with the IMF’s positive assessment of the country’s macro-monetary policies strengthen Morocco’s attractiveness as a go-to business destination, the French bank pointed out.
The bank argued that the North African country’s ambitious green agenda offers significant opportunities for French actors to collaborate with Morocco, especially decarbonizing industry ventures and energy transition.
Throughout the four-day event in Casablanca, the 16 businesses will take part in visits to industrial sites, attend seminars alongside business leaders from both countries, and attend a series of meetings with delegation companies.
“Morocco stands out for being a sub-regional financial hub and also for its avant-garde green transition vision that has already attracted French businesses,” the bank’s statement concluded.
