Rabat – The Organization of the Islamic World for Education, Science and Culture (ICESCO), is set to hold an exhibition dedicated to the (seerah) biography of the Prophet Muhammad and Islamic civilization at its headquarters in Rabat.

Seerah refers to the prophet’s journey through life while encompassing his birth, events that occured in his life, his manners and characteristics, and his death.

ICESCO, alongside the Islamic World League (MWL) and Morocco’s Mohammadia League of Ulema, announced the launch of preparations for the exhibition and museum on February 26 in a press release.

The event, which will be held in Rabat, came after the city was named by the ICESCO as the Islamic’s world’s cultural capital for 2022 in recognition of the city’s effective implementation of an urban and cultural development program launched in 2015.

The announcement comes a day after a meeting held in Rabat, chaired by ICESCO Director General Salem Bin Mohammed Al Malik and Secretary General of the Mohammadia League of Ulema, Ahmed Abbadi.

Also attending the meeting were Nasser Bin Musfir Al Qurashi al Zahrani, Secretary of the Board of Directors of International Exhibitions and Museums at MWL and other representatives from different institutions.

Attendees conveyed their thanks to King Mohammed VI for sponsoring and supporting the international event, ICESCO noted in its statement.

The meeting was also an opportunity to review the preparations of the exhibition and the international museum while also discussing the necessary organizational measures for which many Arab and Islamic capitals competed.

“Due to its unique location in Rabat, equipped spaces and halls and modern infrastructure, the meeting agreed to hold the exhibition and the International Museum of Prophetic Biography and Islamic Civilization at ICESCO headquarters,” the statement added.

The international exhibition and museum aim to deliver a message of Islam that advocates justice, peace, compassion, tolerance, and coexistence, based on the Quran, the Sunnah,  and the Islamic history, the statement concluded.
