Rabat – The Grouping of Moroccan Aeronautic and Space Industries (GIMAS) celebrated on Wednesday in Rabat the signing of an agreement to improve human capital among engineers and technicians in different industrial fields.
President of GIMAS Karim Cheikh emphasized the “vital role” of human capital in boosting the Moroccan aviation industry, stressing the importance of accelerating human capital formation.
Investing in the development of human resources as productive and creative resources is critical for the economic and political development of the country, he said. He added that well-formed human capital in engineering and other related fields would entice investments in the sector.
Chakib Laalej, president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Entreprises (CGEM), also commented on the signing of the agreement.
Laalej said that competent human capital is “an essential factor in the development of a strong and sustainable industry 4.0.”
The new agreement has been introduced to meet the needs of the national industry, especially the automotive and space industry, he added.
The GCEM chairman encouraged the inclusion of the private sector and professionals in order to provide human capital formation that meets the sector’s demands.
This step would strengthen the incorporation of young graduates, as well as serve as a determining factor in increasing competitiveness among Moroccan companies, Laalej argued
President of the Moroccan Association for Automotive Industry and Trade (AMICA) Hakim Abdelmoumen remarked that the automotive industry had been a substantial resort for Moroccan technicians and engineers between the years 2015 and 2020.
The automotive field is “continuously changing and developing.”
He asserted the urgent need for skilled and competent human capital in order to meet the expected needs.
The US International Trade Administration has reported that 140 aerospace companies, which build airport infrastructure, deliver maintenance, and manufacture aircrafts, are affiliated in Morocco.
According to data from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Morocco’s aeronautics industry continues to expand, with a yearly increase of 21.9% in the volume of exports. Morocco’s aeronautics industry exported a total volume of MAD 15.4 billion ($ 1.6 billion) at the end of 2021, rising from MAD 12.7 billion ($1.3 billion) in 2020.
The agreement was jointly signed by Abdellatif Miraoui; minister of Higher Education ,Scientific research and innovation, Ryad Mezzouri; the Minister of Industry and Trade, Chekib Laâlej; the president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Entreprises, Hakim Abdelmoumen; the president of the Moroccan Association for Automotive Industry and Trade, and Karim Cheikh; the president of the Grouping of Moroccan Aeronautic and Space Industries.
The agreement, a result of a study by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with assistance from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, advances the partnership between the public and private sector in achieving human capital formation that meets the growing and specific needs of the manufacturers.
In addition to the development of human capital, the agreement focuses on carbon-free, sustainable production, as well as improving university programs in majors related to the fields of automation and aviation by partnering with professionals in the field.
