Rabat – Huawei Morocco and Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tetouan, northern Morocco, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop joint information and communication technology (ICT) training programs.
The MoU is part of the “Huawei ICT Academy” program at the university’s Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, and aims to foster joint partnerships between the tech giant by providing greater ICT education in Morocco and encouraging more public-private partnerships to create jobs.
“The agreement will lay the groundwork for an innovative partnership to facilitate students’ access to the labor market and developing training programs open to teachers and the university staff as well,” said Faustin Xu, Deputy General Manager of Huawei Morocco in a press release.
Bouchta El Moumni, President of Abdelmalek Essaâdi University welcomed the agreement aimed at integrating digital technologies in the academic field, emphasizing that such a step would enable the university to strengthen its partnerships with the private sector.
Huawei ICT Academy, which was launched in Morocco following a strategic partnership between Huawei Morocco and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, has so far partnered with 54 Moroccan universities.

Huawei Morocco is the major equipment manufacturer for the ICT sector in the North African country and offers several programs, such as “Seeds for the future” to boost young Moroccans’ ICT knowledge and skills.
In February 2022, The Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson signed agreements with several Moroccan universities to provide Moroccan youth with world-class learning and career development opportunities.
Ericsson said it would offer students access to “Ericsson Educate,” a digital platform designed to strengthen university students’ ICT skills and prepare them for the job market.
