US Investment Forum to be Held in Dakhla

Rabat – The USA Investment Forum will be held under the tagline “Invest for Tomorrow” in Dakhla on March 8 and 9.

The event aims to strengthen the position of the US consulate in the region, organizers say. The consulate is to represent a mechanism for improving bilateral cooperation between Morocco and the US, while developing exchanges between the two in various fields.

The forum’s organizers say that participants will get chances to survey the business climate and opportunities in the region during the event, and focus on economic and political development in Africa in general.

The gathering seeks to create new partnerships between public and private entities in both countries, in various fields including tourism, renewable energy, and agriculture.

Cultural and artistic output is also set to be a point of focus during the event, as organizers say they hope to promote Moroccan art, crafts, and local products.

Overall, the goal is to sell Morocco generally, and its southern provinces specifically, as not only a great destination for investors, but also for tourists, due to the strong economic foundations as well as a rich culture and history.

The forum’s first day will see various speeches from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the governor and president of the Dakhla Oued-Eddahab region, and an American delegate.

The speeches will be followed by panel discussions on fields such as trade, logistics, tourism, and renewables, among others.

The second day of the forum will focus on visits to the region’s flagship development projects and networking events, before participants return to Casablanca.

Foreign investments in Dakhla and other southern cities have accelerated following the historic decision in late 2020 by the American administration to recognize Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara.

Key development and infrastructure projects such as the Dakhla Airport and Atlantic Port have been showing steady progress as well.
