Morocco’s Atlas Lions have made it to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, with the draw placing them in Group F alongside Belgium, Croatia, and Canada.
FIFA revealed on Friday the schedule for this year’s World Cup. The Atlas Lions will face Croatia, on November 23 at 10:00 a.m. (GMT) at the Al Bayt Stadium in Doha.
The second game will see Morocco face Belgium on November 27 at 1:00 p.m. (GMT) at the Al Thumama Stadium.
Morocco will face their fourth team, Canada, on December 1 at Al Thumama Stadium at 3:00 p.m. (GMT).
The Atlas Lions qualified for the second time in a row to the World Cup, with their last qualification in Russia 2018.
Prior to that, it was in 1998 that Atlas Lions made it to football’s most prestigious tournament in France.
After qualifying for the World Cup in 1970, 1986, 1994, 1998, and 2018 the Atlas Lions qualified for the sixth time this year.
Morocco is in the same group with the vice-champion of the 2018 World Cup title, Croatia, who had an unexpected run to the final in Russia.
Canada has not competed in a men’s World Cup since 1986, when it was grouped alongside France, Hungary, and the Soviet Union and lost all three games without scoring a goal.
Belgium was ranked the best team in the world in FIFA rankings until Brazil knocked them off the top spot, and they are now in second place.
In the last World Cup 2018 in Russia, Belgium defeated Brazil in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals to eventual champions France.
