Rabat – A Spanish court has approved the extradition of a Moroccan man arrested in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in 2021 on drug trafficking charges.
El Faro de Ceuta reported that the Moroccan man was found guilty of the crime of drug trafficking, particularly cocaine.
The man, who is said to be a native of the city of Nador in Morocco’s Oriental region, was arrested after the Nador Court of First Instance issued an international search warrant against him in October 2020.
The suspect faces charges of participating in drug trafficking through a jet ski, which he is believed to have used to smuggle the illicit product between Morocco and Spain.
In its report about the case, El Faro de Ceuta recalled that police arrested three suspects and seized 21 kilograms of cocaine during an operation in September 2020.
Investigations revealed that the suspects arrested in Ceuta are part of the same organized crime network as the Moroccan man.
Last week, Morocco and Spain agreed to intensify their security cooperation to fight against human trafficking and organized crime networks operating between the two countries.
