Stellar AfricaGold Confirms New 1km Gold Zone in Morocco

Rabat – Canada-based metal exploration company Stellar AfricaGold has confirmed a new gold zone, spanning more than a kilometer, as a part of the Tichka-Est gold project in Morocco.

According to a Wednesday press release from the company, the newly discovered zone C, and two other mining areas – zones A and B – span more than 2.2km.

At Zone C, a first dig of the area showed significant levels of gold more than one kilometer long and 7 meters wide, with 5.81 g/t Au (grams of gold per tonne of material) per four meters.

In a second dig, the company discovered there was enough gold in zone C to include the area into its mining project.

Drilling is planned to begin after the Tichka East access road is finished, and the drill pads are positioned.

The gold samples were collected by two Moroccan geologists under the supervision of the Director of Stellar in Morocco Yassine Belkabir and Stellar Technical Advisor for Africa Ali Saquaque.

A total of 128 samples were subsequently examined at Marrakech’s African Laboratory for Mining and Environment.

The Tichka Est gold project, which covers an area of 82 square kilometers, is located 80 kilometers south-southwest of Marrakech, in an area that is easily accessible by road.

Stellar discovered two significant gold-bearing formations in 2021 – zones A and B – after following up on some strong stream sediment anomalies reported by Morocco’s National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM).

Stellar found the latest zone after a successful sediment program in the stream in 2022.

Morocco is the world’s largest phosphate exporter and has more than 70% percent of the world’s phosphate reserves, said Morocco’s state-owned phosphate giant (OCP)

The North African country’s mining sector accounts for 10% of Morocco’s GPD, 90% of which is accounted for phosphate, making it a key element in its economy.

Morocco’s phosphate exports increased by an annual rate of 95.8% at the end of February 2022 amid the global spiral of fertilizer prices, according to data from Morocco’s Exchange Office.
