Fez –Moroccan International and PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi has expressed his wish to see his teammate Kylian Mbappe stay a little longer with him at the Parisian club.

Mbappe’s future with PSG is currently all but certain, with the French center forward being courted by Real Madrid and other elite clubs seeking to sign him this summer.  The PSG superstar, who is considered one of the best players in the world, has with the French club a contract that is set to expire in a few weeks.

In an interview this past Sunday with Telefoot, a French football program, Hakimi spoke with consternation about the possibility of Mbappe leaving PSG.

The Moroccan right-back explained how he values his friendship with Mbappe, and how he admires the French center forward not only for his abilities on the football field but also as a person.

“It’s a pleasure to have him at my side. He is one of the best players in the world, but above all, he is my friend. I want him to stay here so we can enjoy ourselves. Do I tell him? Of course, he knows it. But I wish him the best. It is him who will decide according to what he thinks is best for his career, and I will support him,” Hakimi said during the interview.

The Moroccan spoke in Spanish throughout the entire interview before receiving a video of Kylian Mbappé asking him to trust himself to speak in French. Hakimi then explained how Kylian played an important role in his learning of the French language. “I speak a little French with Kylian. He helped me a lot. I’m starting to speak better French,” he said.

Hakimi and Mbappe became close friends following the Moroccan right-back’s last summer transfer to PSG from Inter Milan. Not only have the two players formed a great duo during their football games, but they have also celebrated each others’ achievements on and off the pitch.

While the friendship was born in a sporting context, it now appears to have given way to a good understanding and complicity between the two allies off the field.

Hakimi invited Mbappe to a meal during Iftar on April 4, once again showing that the two friends share a special bond.

The video of Mbappe pouring tea by adapting the Moroccan technique shared by Achraf Hakimi on his social media has been viewed and reposted several times by their supporters and fans.

The video captured a genuine moment of personal and cultural understanding between the two players. And with the two young players having established a sincere and seemingly unbreakable “bromance,” none of them appears to want to see it end this summer.
