Rabat – UK-based travel agent and tour operator ABTA and the German Travel Association (DRV) have chosen Morocco to hold their 2022 annual conventions.

ABTA announced earlier this month the return of its overseas Travel Convention, which will take place from October 10 to 12, 2022, in Marrakech, Morocco.

The three-day event will include two days of “thought-provoking and high-level business sessions”, as well as various events that will provide valuable networking opportunities, said ABTA in a press release.

In addition, the convention will give ABTA members, travel journalists, and others in the sector the opportunity to see firsthand the latest tourism projects in Marrakech.

According to ABTA Chief Executive Mark Tanzer, the event is a valuable opportunity for the travel and tourism sector to come together and discuss the future of the industry.

Tanzer said that he is “very pleased that Marrakech will be hosting the 2022 Travel Convention this October”. He also thanked Morocco’s National Tourism Office (ONMT) for making the convention possible.

In addition, Tanzer highlighted the “rich cultural heritage, spectacular scenery, ornate architecture, warm hospitality and delicious cuisine” of the Red City – Marrakech.

“It [the convention] will also be a fantastic opportunity to show travel professionals what this vibrant destination has to offer,” added Tanzer.

DRV convention

The German Travel Association’s (DRV) 2022 annual convention will take place at two locations for the first time ever.

The first conference will take place in Berlin, Germany from October 13 to 14, while the second conference will be held in Taghazout, Morocco from December 1 to 4, at the Fairmont Taghazout Bay hotel.

According to DRV, the host country – Morocco – will be the focus of the Taghazout conference and destination workshops. The event will include discussions about industry policy and travel sales.

Taghazout, located north of the city of Agadir, is a tourist fishing village known for its beautiful beaches and unique surfing area.

The DRV is the representative of the travel industry in Germany. It is a leading association in the sector, with its members making up the majority of Germany’s travel operators and agents.
