Rabat – Morocco’s National Tourism Office (ONMT) and the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT) are partnering to revive and revolutionize the Moroccan tourism sector.
The two institutions signed on Friday a partnership agreement in Casablanca. The document lays the foundation for cooperation in key aspects to improve Moroccan tourism’s competitiveness, advance digitization efforts, boost domestic tourism, as well as expand into traditional and new international markets.
“The revival of tourism inevitably requires a general and harmonized mobilization of all the forces of the sector. This partnership symbolizes the Office’s desire to work hand in hand with all tourism operators so that we can meet this challenge together,” said Adel El Fakir, director-general of ONMT.
As part of the new partnership, ONMT and CNT agreed to create two task forces for consolidating Moroccan image as a tourist destination in the international market as well as countering global competition.
ONMT further committed to supporting the digitization of the tourism sector by training operators on the importance of digital marketing and big data in attracting tourists from around the world.
This partnership underpins ONMT’s continuous efforts in promoting Morocco’s touristic offers. Earlier this year, the office launched two campaigns targeting Moroccan and international tourists.

The campaigns adopted online and offline marketing tools by collaborating with key tourism operators such as airlines and well-established tourism and hospitality companies.
Flights to and from Morocco resumed operation on February 7 after a months-long, COVID-linked flight ban. Moroccan airports have since welcomed thousands of foreigners and Moroccan nationals, leading to a gradual recovery of the tourism sector and the country’s economy as a whole.
On April 12, Morocco reopened its maritime borders with Spain, allowing free movement of people and goods.
Boat trips for vehicle owners will open on April 18, said Moroccan authorities.
