Rabat – German sportswear company Puma has unveiled the official home kits for the Moroccan national team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“The new Morocco Home jersey is inspired by the 1998 Atlas Lions brought to life through a classic look,” Puma said on Monday. “The centrally aligned PUMA One logo complements the retro theme.”

Puma reported that new “100% recycled” jerseys are made of “ultraweave performance fabric and dryCell sweat-wicking technology.”

Alongside Morocco, the company also revealed the home jerseys of the national football teams of Egypt, Ghana, Switzerland, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Uruguay, Paraguay, Italy, and Iceland.

In 2019, Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF) signed a four-year contract with Puma after the expiration of the seven-year contract with Adidas due to football fans’ disappointment with the national 2018 World Cup kit.

Set to expire in 2023, the Moroccan contract with Puma requires it to  “provide all [Moroccan] national teams with equipment and sportswear.”

Morocco’s Atlas Lions are expected to wear the newly-revealed kit in Qatar’s World Cup that is scheduled from November 21 to December 18.

This year, the Moroccan football team was placed in Group F along with Belgium, Croatia, and Canada. The team’s first match will be against Croatia on November 23, four days before the second game against Belgium. The Canada-Morocco match is set to be held on December 1.

The Atlas Lions and the Moroccan public are looking forward to the 2022 Qatar World Cup after a mixed performance at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
