Rabat – The Moroccan Wadia Ait Hamza was appointed last week to be the next Head of the Forum of Young Global Leaders, replacing Mariah Levin.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to lead this community of responsible leaders who have the courage, commitment and passion to drive significant social change around the world,” Ait Hamza wrote on LinkedIn as he shared the news.
Welcoming the Moroccan’s upcoming appointment in June, the Forum of Young Global Leaders said that Ait Hamza “brings a wealth of experience in building communities and engaging across sectors.”
Ait Hamza has served as the Head of the Global Shapers Community since September 2017. He previously worked as a Public Affairs Manager at Rabat School of Governance and Economics prior to it becoming part of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).
He also held administrative positions within Toyota Maroc, the European Institute for the Mediterranean in Barcelona, and Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane.
Ait Hamza holds a Bachelor in International Studies from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane as well as two masters in Euro Mediterranean Affairs from Hassan II Ain Chock University in Casablanca and in Global Leadership from the European Institute of Administrative Affairs (INSEAD) in France.
Ait Hamza’s twenty years of experience in international relations and community building and his strong belief in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development qualify him to lead one of the world’s largest forums.
The Young Global Leadership community currently consists of 1,400 members and alumni from 120 countries. Made up of entrepreneurs, educators, activists, journalists, and activists, the forum serves as an accelerator and supportive platform for positive change.
