Paris Saint Germain (PSG) stars Achraf Hakimi and Kylian Mbappe have appeared in a video marking Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
In the video shared on the PSG social media platforms, Hakimi appeared to test Mbappe’s knowledge of traditional cookies and sweets made during Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
Traditional sweets and cookies are one of the fundamental aspects of Eid Al Fitr breakfast in many countries in the MENA region.
In Morocco, salty snacks and traditional sweets are served early in the morning alongside mint tea.
The same Eid tradition is observed across the MENA region. Countries in the region share similar traditions in celebrating Eid Al Fitr with their peculiar traditional sweets and cookies such as “kaek al Eid” and “Kenafeh.”
Surprisingly, Mbappe surpassed Hakimi’s expectations by recognizing five out of six presented sweets and salty snacks.
Looking amazed at his teammate’s thorough knowledge of Arab pastry, Hakimi gave Mbappe a big round of applause.
The two players have shared a close on and off the pitch connection since the Moroccan right-back’s transfer to PSG in summer 2021.
Hakimi recently said that Mbappe has helped him a lot to integrate and adapt to life in Paris.
While their friendship was born in a sporting context, it now appears to have stretched off the field.
On April 4, Hakimi invited his French teammate to an Iftar meal to mark the start of the holy month of Ramadan.
Video of the French center forward pouring Moroccan tea by adopting the Moroccan style was widely shared on social media platforms, with many fans hailing the special bond linking the two PSG players.
