Rabat – With Canada celebrating Eid Al Fitr today, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has extended his best wishes to all Muslims established in his country.

The majority of Muslims across the world are today celebrating Eid Al Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a recorded statement, Trudeau emphasized that Eid Al Fitr is “a time for community and celebration.”

The Canadian Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Eid in Islam, saying it serves as an “opportunity for families and friends to gather and pray, feast, and spend quality time together.”

Trudeau also stressed the contribution of Muslim Canadians to Canada’s development in a wide range of sectors. Eid is an opportunity to recognize their efforts, he said, noting: “Across Canada, Muslims demonstrate service and kindness, by donating to charity and supporting important causes.”

Trudeau recalled the issue of Islamophobia, vowing that his country will continue to combat forms of hatred, including “by appointing a special representative to combat” hate speech and hate crimes.

“Together, we will keep building a better, fairer, and a more inclusive world for everyone,” he stressed.

Trudeau concluded his message by renewing his best wishes, on behalf of his family and country, to Muslims in Canada and around the world.

“I wish a blessed and peaceful Eid to all those celebrating here at home and around the world,” Eid Mubarak!,” Trudeau said.

Congratulatory messages from Trudeau have become customary during religious events. In most of his Eid messages, the Canadian Prime minister often vows to fight against Islamophobia and xenophobia.

In addition to Muslims in Canada, many other countries are celebrating Eid Al Fitr today, including Morocco, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Oman, among others.

Muslims start Eid celebrations with morning prayers called Salat Al Eid.  And families later gather around morning breakfast in which different meals are served, including sweets consumed with mint tea and coffee.
