Rabat – Morocco Fashion Week began yesterday, June 3, with a press conference followed by the evening’s fashion show. Various designers showed off their stunning collections at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, accompanied by a Diamant Noir Jewelry presentation.

Excitement for the evening’s show had been growing all day. Egyptian actress Hanady Mehanna spoke to Morocco World News about what she was most looking forward to. “I am waiting to see Wafaa Idrissi; I really like the Moroccan style, the caftan. It’s their culture and I can’t wait to see it,” she told MWN.

The catwalk was hosted in the gardens of the Marrakech hotel, as models displayed unique and stylish designs, striding around one of the many pools on site. As the sun began to set on the red city, VIP guests and fashion enthusiasts arrived on the red carpet.

The show began with a collection from Amor Guellil, a young Algerian designer influenced by both his native culture and other Mediterranean aspects. Guellil’s work presented some unique features, such as extravagant headwear and stand-out orange pieces.

Next up was Khadija Chraibi, known as Rena, who provided guests with the opportunity to view some easy to wear and light fitting pieces. Many of her designs had floral aspects, and Rena discussed the inspiration behind her latest range earlier in the day.

Rena’s presentation was followed by Jitka Klett, who also goes by JK Klett. Once again, the Czech creator displayed an elegant array of light wear dresses. Some had colorful floral patterns, accompanied by different shades of blue dresses, and some more oriental inspired pieces.

Fashion creator Nun was next in line to introduce her work. Like designers who took the stage before her, Nun has fabricated some Moroccan inspired pieces, as well as other beachwear style dresses. This range represented inspiration from both modern fashion and traditional wear such as the caftan.

Klett’s latest range PURA preceded the presentation of Diamant Noir Jewelry, which showcased a number of exotic necklaces. Much of the jewelry on show was littered with turquoise colors, as well as loose-fitted designs.

Designer Addy Van Den Krommenacker then showed off his princess inspired collection. His range contained a wide variety of brightly coloured dresses, each with a distinct design. Many of the pieces also included sparkling aspects, drawing attention from the VIPs and other guests in attendance.

Morocco’s Hind Tahiri was up next, with her oriental and mediterranean inspired collection “Cruise.” This range consisted of beachwear and light pieces, ranging in colors from cream and brown to purples and blue. Many of her designs were also accompanied by impressive hand pieces.

This resort-inspired collection was followed by Zahra Lamhaoul’s range. The designer, who goes by Zor, presented yet another stunning set of dresses and caftans. Inspired by both her Moroccan and Spanish roots, Lamhaoul has created a collection varying in style, length and color.

To conclude the first night of the fashion show, Zineb Hazimi displayed designs from her brand that began in 2019. Hazim’s creations consisted of long and elegant dresses, many of which glittering impressively and varying in color.

The Oriental Fashion show continues on June 4, with another night of designers showing off their stunning collections and creations.
