Rabat – French-Moroccan actor Assaad Bouab will star in Apple’s upcoming eight-episode miniseries about Benjamin Franklin, whose title is yet to be revealed.
The series is now officially in production in Versailles, just outside Paris, and will star heavy-hitters such as Michael Douglas and Noah Jupe, entertainment outlet Deadline reported.
Assaad Bouab will lend his talents to playing French philosopher and playwright Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, who was an early supporter of the American independence movement, and championed it to French decision makers.
“Happy to join this amazing cast. A journey begins,” the actor wrote on an Instagram post, celebrating tha casting.
Michael Douglas will star as the founding father, depicting one of the greatest gambles in the American figure’s career, when he convinced the French to ally themselves with America against England.
Written and Directed by award-winning duo Kirk Ellis and Tim van Patten, the miniseries is projected to be one of Apple’s most high-profile offerings.
Bouab’s first starring role was in Nabil Ayouch’s 2007 film “Whatever Lola Wants,” co-starring as Zack alongside Laura Ramsay. He achieved prominence with his main role in “Call My Agent!” (“Dix pour cent” in French) as Hicham Janowski, a main character since the second season.
