Laayoune – US President Joe Biden expressed his desire to host African leaders at the US-African Leaders Summit, which will be held in Washington DC on December 13-15, 2022.
“The Summit will demonstrate the United States’ enduring commitment to Africa, and will underscore the importance of U.S.-Africa relations and increased cooperation on shared global priorities,” said President Biden yesterday, seeking to strengthen relations with the different African nations that will attend the Summit.
Biden’s speech coincides with the ongoing US-Africa Business Summit in Marrakech, which will conclude on July 22.
The US-Africa Business Summit intends to establish connections between African peers and American government representatives, investors, and companies in order to improve the continent’s sustainable development results and address pressing global concerns.
Biden similarly hopes that the December US-Africa Leaders Summit will encourage new economic engagement between the participants, strengthen their devotion to democracy and human rights, address health issues and food security, and improve ties with African diaspora communities in the US.

The current US-Africa Business Summit was also a chance to garner greater support for Morocco’s autonomy plan regarding Western Sahara. African diplomatic envoys from Gambia, Liberia, and Comoros publicly expressed their support for the Moroccan autonomy plan.
In July of last year, the Biden administration unveiled a strategy for working with Africa that concentrates on developing the continent’s infrastructure. The upcoming US-African Leaders Summit might offer a chance to discuss matters relating to this strategy.
