Rabat – Morocco’s Royal Mansour Hotel in Marrakech is ranked as the fifth best hotel worldwide with a score of 98.93, according to a recent ranking by Travel & Leisure Magazine.

Every year, Travel & Leisure surveys its readers to rank the World’s Best Awards based on their travel experiences and opinions.

Hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more are rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value.

Located near the city’s old medina, the Magazine noted that the luxury hotel’s “12-acre expanse functions almost like a city unto itself,” describing its various facilities including its 53 private riads “designed in mosaic tiles, thick carpets, and artisan furniture, plus a spacious outdoor pool, fragrant gardens, and Michelin-starred dining.”

The ranking, which consists of the 100 best hotels worldwide, also features two other Moroccan hotels: Marrakech’s Oberoi Hotel (7th) and Mandarin Oriental (57th).

With a score of 98.24, Oberoi is Marrakech’s expensive signature villa with 355 square meter interiors. The hotel features private plunge pools, an ayurvedic spa, and yoga classes, among other assets.

Meanwhile, Mandarin Oriental hotel, which extends over a “50-acre expanse of palms, olive trees,” received a score of 96.67 for its “shimmering lake houses 54 rustic yet elegant suites and villas.”

Best Hotel in MENA region

The Royal Mansour was additionally crowned the best hotel in North Africa and the Middle East in a different ranking by Travel & Leisure.

Described as a “storied property” that “brands itself as a sort of historic center of its own,” the Magazine further shed light on the hotel’s acres of gardens, intricately carved arches, and Moorish tiled courtyards.

Ten exceptional destinations have been selected to comprise the ranking of the ten best urban hotels in MENA.

The Norman hotel in Tel Aviv occupies second place, followed by The Nile Ritz-Carlton (Cairo), Four Seasons Hotel Amman (Jordan), and Marriott Mena House (Cairo).

The sixth place goes to Marrakech’s La Mamounia Hotel with a score of 91.86, ahead of the Burj Al Arab (Dubai), the Four Seasons hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza (Cairo), the King David Hotel (Jerusalem), and the Four Seasons Cairo at the first residence (Giza).
