Rabat – Morocco’s national carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) secured a new agreement today in Tourba (in center-west Senegal) with the Brotherhood of Mourides, one of its partners in the Senegalese market and a prominent Sufi order in the West African country.

A delegation from Royal Air Maroc, including the company’s director of the commercial center Ilham Kazinni, and the regional representative of RAM in Senegal Anouar Mabrouki participated in the signing ceremony.

Kazzini signed the agreement with Abdoul Ahad Ka, the mayor of Touba, in accordance with the high instructions of the Caliph General of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Bassirou Mbacke.

Under the agreement, Royal Air Maroc will provide preferential rates for Senegalese residing abroad who wish to travel to their country.

The agreement will also offer benefits for freight and the repatriation costs of the remains of members of the Senegalese community who have died abroad.

When speaking during the signing ceremony, Kazzini emphasized that the agreement with the Brotherhood of the Mourides is inaugurating a new relationship with the Senegalese market, which constitutes the largest hub in sub-Saharan Africa and is a driving force for the development of the African continent.

Wednesday’s agreement with the Mourides Brotherhood comes just one day after Royal Air Maroc signed five other agreements with various partners in Dakar.

The partnership agreements seek to allow Royal Air Maroc to promote services and appeal to the Senegalese market.

Royal Air Maroc’s partners include the Senegal-Morocco Circle for Friendship and Fraternity, the Association of Senegalese Traders, the Oumarienne family, the Fayda Tijania of Kaolack, and the Tijani Brotherhood of Senegal.

In Senegal, the company also recalled its membership in the Oneworld alliance, a confederation convening 14 of the world’s renowned airline companies.

“Through this membership, RAM offers its customers a network of nearly 1,000 destinations and exclusive advantages ranging from access to the airline’s partner loyalty program to personalized services at airports around the world,” Kazzini said during Tuesday’s signing ceremony in Dakar.
